Audi A4: Fender, Removing and Installing
Special tools and workshop equipment
required
- Pop Rivet Nut Pliers -VAS5072A-
- Drill
- Pop rivets. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
- Follow the safety precautions. Refer to
→ Body Interior; Rep. Gr.00; Safety Precautions; Safety
Precautions when Working on Pyrotechnic Components.
Removing
- Remove the front wheel housing liner. Refer to
→ Chapter "Front Wheel Housing Liner, Removing and Installing".
- If required, remove the washer fluid reservoir. Refer to
→ Electrical Equipment; Rep. Gr.92; Windshield Washer System;
Washer Fluid Reservoir, Removing and Installing.
- Remove the bumper cover mount. Refer to
→ Chapter "Bumper Cover Mount, Removing and Installing".
- Remove the bolts -1 and 4- and the
double bolts -2-.
- Free up the bracket -3- for the
refrigerant lines.
- Remove the rear cover for the fender. Refer to
→ Chapter "Rear Fender Cover, Removing and Installing".
- Remove the bolts -1- and the double
bolt -2-.
CAUTION
Pyrotechnic components may deploy unintentionally.
Risk of injury.
- Discharge static electricity by briefly touching the
door striker.
- Vehicles with pedestrian protection: Free up the connector for the
pedestrian protection trigger -Item 7-.
- Remove the fender -3-.
Fender, Preparing for Installation
TIP
The fender can only be ordered in individual components and must
be prepared for installation as follows.
- Use pop rivets -1- to fasten the
bracket -3- and reinforcement
-4- to the fender
-2-.
- The brackets must be behind the fender edge.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:
- Insert the seal -2- into the fender
-1-.
